Tom grew up in superior, Wisconsin and currently lives in Cloquet, Minnesota with his wife Robin; together they have five children--three boys and two girls. Tom has worked at the paper mill over thirty years and is a technician there.
Tom started playing piano at age three. His great aunt Dorothy took notice one Christmas while visiting from out of town and began teaching him music. He began formal lessons and quickly advanced, so he was taking classical lessons in his teens. While in high school he was already performing. He turned down the opportunity to attend Julliard School of Music in New York, and to this day he wonders "what if?"
Tom has a natural ear for music and enjoys playing for an audience, knowing that his gift is giving a wonderful experience to his listeners, both live and through his CD's. Tom likes the idea of his music being used in Take It Home DVDs. Many of the pieces go hand-in-hand withe the accompanying photographs. His song "Along the Way" captures the mood of the DVD; the songs for the waterfall section of the Superior Hiking Trail came to Tom as he watched the images on the DVD in production. "The music just flowed" says Tom. The selection, "Julian Bay" was composed while looking across Lake Superior from Stockton Island in the Apostle Islands. It portrays the lake at sunrise.
Tom has won several talent contests playing the piano and singing. Tom opened for contemporary Christian artist, Steven Curtis Chapman and he puts on a Christmas concert each year in Cloquet and Prescott, Wisconsin to help benefit area needy families. He has three CD's which are sold in the Cloquet area, or available from him at keyofc@juno.com. Tom dreams some day of performing his music in concert full time. |
