Morning Rainbow. I have many more pictures of out west to share, but I thought I would slip these in. I was headed up the north shore last Wednesday morning when I remembered what an old weather man had told me. He said when the sun is low in the sky and there is moisture in the atmosphere at the other end of the horizon there will almost certainly be a rainbow in that sky. Keeping this in mind I headed for Leif Erickson Park and waited. The rainbow appeared slowly but then grew in intensity. I had to hurry to get into position and I only had a few minutes to capture these.

July 4, 2007 - Moose
It seemed that this trip we couldn't drive five miles or hike one mile without running into a moose or two. The baby moose pictured here had to be just hours old. It had trouble getting up and following mom. On one of our mountain hikes we sat down by a small lake for a rest. We could hear something coming through the woods. Not one but two moose walked within fifty feet. They are just a spectacular sight viewed at such a close distance. I felt privileged to be in their home. And what a magnificent home, filled with glacial lakes, roaring streams, snow capped mountains and abundant wildflowers. They too must feel privileged.
