June 24, 2007 - Yellowstone Grizzly
I wonder how something so fierce and powerful can be so gentle and motherly. As we watched this very large female grizzly flip over 150 pound boulders with the greatest of ease my first thought was that the twin cubs must feel so secure just being in the vicinity of their mom. My second thought was how insecure we felt being this close to the three of them. Every once in a while the mother grizzly would gently nudge the cubs in the position she thought they should be and then stand on her hind paws to make sure everything was OK. My last thought was that a plan of mine was coming together. My idea was to go out west in late May and early June so that we could capture newborn wildlife. I wish my retirement plans would turn out this well!

June 14, 2007 - Near Jackson Wyoming
My trip out west was nothing short of spiritual. There's something about being in the mountains that makes you feel more complete. The weather was anywhere from 80 degrees in the valley to a foot of snow in the mountain passes. The old barn you see is at Mormons row near the town of Jackson Wyoming. The hot air balloon floated gracefully in amongst the Teton Mountains, again near Jackson Wyoming. Stay tuned for grizzly cubs, newborn moose, baby bison and many more scenics.

June 4, 2007 - Morning Fog At Silver Creek
It's the Wednesday before I leave for Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. It's been one heck of a week leading up to this point. A record month at work along with the everyday chores and fire extinguishing and dealing with having to say goodbye to a friend has made me more than ready for a vacation. Even though I know I'm leaving tomorrow, I still had to stop somewhere along the way back down the north shore. This morning it was at Silver Creek. It was calm, foggy and theraputic. I often use nature to massage my mind. No matter what, it is always there for us. It helps me see things more clearly and I strongly recommend it to everyone. The next time we visit, I will have pictures of my trip out west to share with you.
